1000HE wont boot after install
« on: May 18, 2009, 07:13:11 AM »
I've installed it nearly a dozen times using iDeneb 1.3 and also 1.4 and still no joy.

"...MAC Framework successfully initialized
using 10485 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers.."

I've installed booted ubuntu an ran a dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda to fully zero out the drive and repartitioned several ways through disk utility but still no joy.

BIOS 0605

Using the available guides Ive disabled Quick Boot & Quiet Boot & LAN but no matter what I do I still get that damned error.

Also used (1.3) :

    * The option for ICHx Fixed
    * The option for FireWire Remove or similar
    * Video/Intel and check GMA950
    * PS/2 Keyboard Fix or PS2Fix Keyboard or similar
    * CPUS=1 or One Core Fix

For 1.4:
# iDeneb Essential System
# Patches 10.5.6 Ready / Alternative Essential Patch /  PS2 Fix  for ACPI kext 10.5.6 / PS2 Fix Keyboard
# Chipset / ICHx Fixed
# Fix / AppleSMBIOS / AppleSMBIOS 667
# Fix / FireWire Remove
# Fix /  Battery Manager
# Fix / PowerOff_OpenHaltRestart
# Video / Intel / IntelGMA950

Any ideas? This is driving me nutz

First off, how are you booting the DVD? Is it burnt? or are you using a USB drive? I ask because that error is what you generally get when you the media is bad that you burnt it on. Also, I get that problem with iDeneb 1.4 and booting the retail DVD.

I usually install iDeneb by using my mac to restore the ISO to a USB Hard drive and boot with a Boot-132 disc. If you can do that, I'd suggest trying that method.

I tried several diff ways so far.

1) On my mac pro I use diskutil and create the fs on a usb key and then restore to that. Boots right off usb key and installs fine... no dice on getting it to boot from HD though...

2) Restored iso to dvd and boot from dvd... ionstalls fine... wont boot from HD though

Tried using the usb & DVD to boot as well as boot 123 and still no dice once i point to the HD I get that error in my 1st post

What distro are you trying?

iDeneb 1.3 10.5.5 is the ONLY one I can get to boot, the rest give me that same error either via USB or DVD

Interesting, are you sure your 1.3 disc is actually 1.3? I only had 1.4 and had the problem you are having, however I acquired the iPC 10.5.6 Final DVD and followed the guide and it worked great. The options are almost the same and its easy to compare. With the iPC DVD I did need to choose PS2 keyboard and mouse drivers to get the keyboard and mouse to work however. Depending on what wireless card you swap with, I also had to choose the 10.4.8 airport kext to get my wireless working.
